David Apple manages Georgia Tech’s Northwest Georgia Region Office located in Cartersville. In addition to helping connect NW Georgia companies to Georgia Tech services, he conducts workshops and guides and assists companies with lean implementation through training and leading kaizen projects.
Prior to coming to Georgia Tech, Mr. Apple gained some 20 years of experience with the William Bonnell Company, Cummins Engine Company, and OMC in engineering, operations, and quality. He has led dozens of kaizen events and improvement projects, including value stream mapping, set-up reduction, 5S, cellular manufacturing, capital equipment purchases, new plant start-ups, and relocations. Mr. Apple was a key player in the development and implementation of the first team-based work systems at Cummins. He has an M.B.A. from Georgia State University and a bachelor ’s degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech.
